Company Summary

Elkhart Brass: Over a Century of Firefighting Innovation

Founded in 1902 by Norwegian immigrant Albert E. Hansen, Elkhart Brass has been a cornerstone of American firefighting for more than 120 years. From its roots in Elkhart, Indiana, the company has grown into a global leader, offering over 2,000 high-performance products used by fire departments, industrial sites, and military forces worldwide.

Elkhart Brass has a proud legacy of innovation—introducing the first ball-type shut-off nozzle in the 1920s and the Mystery® Nozzle, the nation’s first peripheral jet fog nozzle, in the 1930s. Known for pioneering advancements like XD nozzles and wireless electronic controls, the company continued to push the industry forward with the Select-O-Flow® in the 1950s and the Select-O-Matic® automatic nozzles in the 1970s—products that still serve departments today.

In 2015, Elkhart Brass became part of Safe Fleet, expanding its reach and product integration across a broader safety platform. In 2024, Safe Fleet was acquired by Clarience Technologies, making Elkhart Brass part of a global family of transportation and safety technology brands—while continuing to operate independently and remain true to its firefighting roots.

Today, Elkhart Brass remains headquartered in Elkhart, Indiana, where it houses its manufacturing, engineering, and product development teams. With an unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and customer trust, Elkhart Brass proudly continues its mission to serve those who protect and respond.
