Jordan Lin is Awarded the 2023 FAMA Scholarship

August 22, 2023 – The Fire Apparatus Manufacturers’ Association (FAMA) awarded a scholarship to Oklahoma State University student Jordan Lin.

Lou Milanovich, FAMA Education Committee Chair, stated, “Jordan Lin’s application stood out because of his advocacy of best practices for safety, his dedication to helping others, and his outstanding grade point average.”

Beyond being a full-time student in the OSU School of Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology, Lin serves as a teaching assistant for Occupational Hygiene and Safety and Fluid Mechanics. To confirm his career interests in fire protection engineering, Lin has devoted time and research. He started a YouTube channel that advocates emergency preparedness practices for FEMA’s Youth Preparedness Council, worked fire panel shifts at school events, and interned in fire safety management at Emory University. His internship at Emory focused on educating the public on fire safety practices, and administering the installation, operations, and maintenance of every fire protection system installed on campus. Lin has grown to become an advocate of the best practices to keep our communities safe.

Lin currently serves as treasurer of the OSU student chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals and is involved with the student chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. As one of 12 in-house peer mentors living in the freshmen engineering dorm, Lin shares his knowledge and advice to aid students.

On behalf of FAMA, we wish Jordan Lin a successful career focused on protecting lives and property.
